At Moscow University *, too the secrecy and security became stifling and soon
claimed Natalia as one of its victims — though it cannot be excluded that she was the target of someone's jealousy or resentment. On the day after her June meeting with Solzhenitsyn, a fellow music student rang her and invited her to a concert by Sviatoslav Richter. She gladly accepted, terminated her experiments, and ran to the Moscow Conservatory to meet him. The following morning she was summoned by one of Professor Kobozev's deputies and reprimanded for having left the small ventilation window in her laboratory open. Natalia explained that the window was barred and that she hadn't been the last to leave that evening: there were others in Kobozev's office who had had to pass through her laboratory to get out, and normally the last person to leave would close the ventilation window...

* : Nel 1936 iniziò gli studi di chimica e musica. Fu l'anno del suo incontro con Solzhenitsyn. Dopo gli studi presso l'Università di Rostov sul Don, conseguì la specializzazione post-laurea all'università di Mosca. Fu autrice di libri nonché di una biografia su Aleksandr Isaeevic Solzhenitsyn.
