Nella tournée del 1986 Sviatoslav Richter eseguì le "Variazioni Diabelli" molte volte, in tutta Europa. Dopo il concerto, che si tenne a Copenaghen il 15 Giugno alla "Tivoli Concert Hall", il Prof. Poul Birkelund gli assegnò il premio danese per la musica "Léonie Sonnings", Prismodtager 1986.
